The Northwoods.....a place of legend, adventure and escape; where a special feeling overcomes you. Here is where the Northwoods begins and life's stresses end.

We are situated in the Chippewa National Forest which is a truly wild area with huge stands of pine, countless lakes, deer, bear, timber wolves and the largest nesting population of bald eagles in the lower 48 states. We are also adjacent to the Paul Bunyan State Forest - another wilderness area with few roads and miles of trails to explore. One of the best ways to enjoy the spectacular views of Leech Lake and the surrounding area is via a sightseeing trip in a float plane - they'll even pick you up at our dock.

Walk across the Mississippi River headwaters at Lake Itasca State Park (1/2 hour drive to the west), a beautiful setting with hiking and biking trails among the largest white and red pines in the state. A great day-trip.

The Paul Bunyan bike trail runs past our driveway, providing access to over 150 miles of fabulous paved bike trails. Bike rentals are available at our resort.

If shopping is more to your liking, head into Walker for a truly enjoyable day for the whole family. Many Northwoods gift shops, antique shops and Reed's, the largest sporting goods dealer in northern Minnesota await you. Walker also offers many restaurants, from casual to fine dining, and the Northern Lights Casino and so much more. And all of this is only five minutes away from our resort (most Leech Lake resorts are 15 to 30 miles from town).

The Walker area is fast becoming a golfer's paradise. Five area golf courses that are literally carved out of the pine and birch forests are made for all levels of golfers.
Note: Green fees are reasonable and tee times aren't a problem.

If you're a hunter or shooting enthusiast, the Northstar Sportsmens Club is only 5 minutes away and offers a first-class sporting clays course, trap and skeet shooting and a 3-D archery course. Bring your shotgun or bow and spend an afternoon enjoying yourself in these challenging shooting sports.
